THis is a one piece kit with a very complicated paint pattern.  On the show, the shadow ships are living ships used by a race of beings nearly as old as the galaxy.  Very little is known about them.

I tried several times to mimic the purple blood vessels but I could never get it to look right so I decided to take artistic licensing.   I painted the entire ship silver for the first coat.   The second coat was a metallic blue and I only painted in towards the middle leaving the silver at the tips of the spines.   The last coast was metallic purple and I I only painted the core area.   This gave the ship a kind organic look since the veins changed color as you got further away from the center of the ship.   then I went back and hand painted all the black skin between the viens.
