Bandai 1/12
Completed January 2021
I like how this Bandai kit was engineered. The seams are hidden much better than on the stormtrooper kits. The kit came with two capes and both were terrible. The clothe one looked like it was blowing in a hurricane because it wouldn’t lie flat and the one I ended up using looked toylike. To spruce it up some I removed the hinge for the smaller part of the cape and sanded it down as thin as I could go. Then I used a heat gun to soften the plastic and reshape it a bit to get it to hang better off the shoulder. I tossed the red stripe decals and painted the hem with Royal Red.
The figure would stand on its own but you couldn’t handle it at all without leaving fingerprints so I elected to use the stand it came with. I drilled holes in the feet and ran rods through the base to help support the figure. To cover up the holes on the side of the base I ran some evergreen strips and painted it the same color as the hem of her cape.
A light dirty wash with dark brown paint brought out the creases and indentions in the armor. Then I shined it up with a lint free cloth and adjusted the pose. Overall I spent more time on the cape then the rest of th model but I’m pleased with the results.
